New Triumph Speed Twin 900 2025. High-flying elegance

The previous model of the Triumph Speed Twin 900 we have only good memories of. It is really hard to find any flaw in this motorcycle. It looks wonderful not only at first glance, it is powered by a great engine with a very interesting, old-school character, the chassis has compact and predictable characteristics, and the whole motorcycle has a simply laid-back character. It is definitely one of those motorcycles that do not age at all.

Therefore, although Triumph presented the new Speed Twin 900, the term facelift fits us better here… and very well, because there is not much room for improvement here. The same, two-cylinder, in-line engine is responsible for the drive, which, although it is liquid-cooled and fueled by injection, looks like an old carburetor “air tank”. And most importantly, it also works in an old-school way. The bottom is dense with torque, and throughout the entire rev range this engine works with class and character. In the 2025 season, this stove still develops 65 HP and 80 Nm achieved at 3800 rpm. The place where it is mounted, i.e. the frame, has also remained unchanged and is a steel cradle that gives a very direct feel of the motorcycle. However, the subframe has changed, which is now narrower.

What has changed in the new Speed Twin?

While you can call Triumph’s treatment a facelift, you can’t say that nothing has changed. In addition to the new subframe, the bodywork has been redesigned, which, while it plays in the same retro-elegant style as before, is more refined and visually “lightened”. Triumph has also taken care of details such as other engine fins, a shorter exhaust system, and a new seat. But there are also more significant changes, more precisely – in the suspension. While the USD fork system at the front and two shock absorbers at the rear have remained unchanged, the components are completely new and were supplied by Marzocchi. Although the adjustment in them is still modest, because it is limited to the preload at the rear, such characteristics are supposed to provide more precise and responsive handling. This is also helped by the new aluminum swingarm, which is stiffer than the previous one, and the rear wheel has 10 mm less travel (now 110 mm). The wheels are also new, as is the 320 mm front brake disc. The manufacturer assures us, however, that the changes to the chassis have not come at the expense of ride comfort. Supposedly, the Speed Twin 900 will continue to be a comfortable and relaxing, stylish ride. We’ll take your word for it.

When in showrooms?

In addition to the changes in the chassis, there have also been changes in the configurator. The accessories catalog now includes 120 items and among them are new seats that allow you to adjust the motorcycle to people of shorter height. The configurator also includes several technological novelties, such as a TFT screen with infotainment system, USB C socket or cruise control. However, fans of classics do not have to feel disappointed, because the classic instrument panel will still be available.

And when will the new Triumph Speed Twin 900 be available in showrooms? Already at the beginning of the season, because from February 2025 the first units will start arriving at authorized Triumph Motorcycles showrooms.
